breast cancer

Sunday, October 21, 2012

Well I'm almost at the end of my radiation journey. I had to have 33 radiations and I have 8 more to go. Still have lots of energy but getting a little sore. Next weekend I'm going to do the wálk for the cure. I was going to do a 5k but since I was not sure on how I would feel I decided to stick with a mile. Should have went for the 5k. emoticon

I've been through radiation also, it can cause a lot of fatigue. I think it's wise not to push yourself on the 5K right now. You are an inspiration even just doing the mile! emoticon

kAgree w/the comment that it's good you went with the mile. Just take it a day-at-a-time and prayers and hugs coming your way.

I also applaud your efforts in signing up to Walk for the Cure. But I do agree with JenFields13. It is enough that you signed up. You don't need to push yourself in these last stages of treatment, to walk, if it doesn't work out for your. Just remember there are plenty of people who are walking for you. I found a leaflet at my Dr's office and signed up and walked an entire Marathon 2 weeks ago, all $$ going to Breast Cancer Research. All for a cure.
Take all things into consideration before you step out, afterall, we all walk in unison, whether on foot, or in spirit.

Not wanting to discourage you at all but I think it is good that you went with the mile. The last radiation treatments are the hardest especially if your burns get bad. I had energy but it hurt to move and have anything touching my skin those last few days. I wasn't tired until after radiation was all over with. I was supposed to have the same number of radiation treatments as you did but they cut me short a bit because I burned faster.
So excited for you as you are at the end of your treatment!! Way to hang in there!! I truly admire you for getting through it and for signing up for the Walk for a Cure!
Hugs from another pink sister. emoticon emoticon
