Some of the items, I have been hearing for years....Consult your Dr. before starting, wear bright and light colored clothing, try and find a buddy so you are not walking alone.

Some new things, bring a cell phone or an alarm in case you run into trouble, dog, person, falling and hurting yourself. Use a watch to monitor your time and slowly increase your level of speed and distance.

I have always remembered to use the "talk test", if you are so winded that you cannot talk, slow down and take a breath and keep walking at a slower pace.

Walking is fun and inexpensive.
