A Special Day With A Special Friend
Friday, October 19, 2012
My friend Linda and I are getting together today. We are both 60 yrs old. We were 5 yrs old when we met. That means we have been friends for 55 years. OMG! Where have the years gone?
I can still remember the first time I met Linda. Her family had recently moved to our neighborhood in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. We met one summer day when Linda & her brother Chuck were singing for us at our dining room window. In a sing-song voice they called out "Nancy, Billy, can you come out to play?" That's how we would call on each other. It was considered inappropriate to knock at the door or ring the bell... and children didn't use the telephone.
We have maintained our friendship over the years. Through marriages, divorces, births, deaths. At times we were joined at the hip. Other times our lives had gone in different directions. We have always been able to pick up where we left off. She knows my history. I know hers.
Anyway, Linda is coming over this morning. We had planned to go hiking at Seven Ponds Nature Center , but we have rain in the forecast. Now we have an alternate plan to drive around in our rural area and visit a cider mill, the sheep farm, and the pie company for lunch. Since we are missing our hiking, I will get my laptop out and have my Walking With Leslie dvd ready.
Ahhhhhh.... a special day with a special friend. I wish the same for you all!
