Plantar Fasciitis

Tuesday, October 16, 2012

I now have plantar fasciitis which makes it very hard to run. In fact, it hurts to walk alot but I'm back up to 160 pounds and not happy about it. I have ran two 5K's since my injury and almost feel like I might as well run if I'm gonna hurt anyway. It's very frustrating. I did just get the Zumba2 for my Wii fit so I can do that as well. I'm back to trying to track my exercise and hopefully on my way back down to a lighter weight.

Thank you for your help. I just went to the doctor and she told me to stretch before I get up, and ice after exercise. I do have some heel inserts my brother gave me and that seems to help. I ran 4.67 miles today and feel pretty good.

I think I'm having a war with plantar fasciitis myself, but I can tell you that while it'll hurt, get a couple golf balls and keep 'em around for when you're sitting and watching TV or something. Put them on the floor, and roll your feet on them, pressing down wherever it hurts. It helps stretch out the tendons in your feet, which will gradually reduce the pain. There's also different heel cups you can put in your shoes to combat it (because it presses on tendons the same way).

But once you get your weight down a bit, that too will help! :)

My husband had his PF treated at the doc's. I think I too have undiagnosed PF. One thing that helps me is to wear shoes. My feet really do feel better if I don't go barefoot.
