Shall I buy a FitBit? Advice wanted from Sparkies who have used a FITBIT.

Monday, October 15, 2012

Another lovely day. I've done my morning exercise and errands, hung out the washing (yay, retiring the dryer for summer) and had a shower, and am about to go into the garden.

One of my errands was that I picked up a Fitbit Zip. We got it free from FlyBuys, a reward programme. I thought DH would like it because he has always seemed to enjoy a step counter.
And now this morning I see SP is promoting the use of fitbits.
Sparkfriends, I am tempted to jump in and get one for myself. And not just the Zip, I suspect the One would help me with my sleep goals, too.

If you have a fitbit, what kind do you have (the Zip, Ultra, or One?).
Do you find it helpful?
Which would you advise me to get? Because I can get a Zip for, well zip, on Flybuys...

Looking forward to hearing what you think.

You can wear the Fitbit on your bra where it isn't even noticed. I also have an Omron, but I like the fact that I can charge the battery on the FitBit easily, while the Omron battery doesn't give clues until it just dies (and then that day's record is inaccurate). The Fitbit can easily track various activities and can give me my distance on my various walks and runs where the Omron only gives total distance for the entire number. And yes, the omron only works with a PC. It is one of the more accurate pedometers on the market. When my current Omron quits I'm going to just stick with the FitBit, It does everything my pedometer does and more.

From what I can gather, they have to be worn on the outside of your shirt top or your pocket. Not sure about that, but I have a switch2health pedometer which suits me and I get rewards for the steps I walk. I have cashed in $60 worth of rewards already. Great stuff!!

Good luck with your gadget. I say gadget, because they are all just gadgets and don't make you any thinner. Exercise in and calories out make for a thinner us.

Sorry about the grammar but not thinking as clearly as I should at the mo' Have a great evening.

Go on Amazon and read the reviews. Some of the details made me decide not to get one. Omron has some that will give you a look at your progress by providing you a graph, think they can only be used with PC's however.

I have the Ultra and have had a FitBit since shortly after they became available. In fact I had ordered it before they were even being manufactured. I opened my FitBit account 3 years ago. It is great. It's small, it's accurate, I like the sleep function. I think it's one of the best tools out there. I don't know anything about the Zip, but if you can get one free, then get it and try it out. You can upgrade later on if you like.
