Trying to juggle working full-time, school, house, husband, dog, cat, and two small children can make it challenging to find time for yourself let alone eat healthy. I could not have lost 50 lbs without planning ahead. When I don't plan ahead I end up at the vending machine and eating at fast food restaurants (and not making healthy choices).
On Sunday I spend about an hour and a half measuring, weighing, portioning, and prepping my breakfast, lunch, and snacks for the week. This is what I eat each week:
*1/2 cup 1% Low Fat Cottage Cheese
*My oatmeal mix of -
*****1/2 cup dry Old Fashioned Quaker Oatmeal Plain
*****1/8 cup Whey protein powdered chocolate mix
*****1/8 cup Craisins
*12 Blue Diamond Whole Natural Almonds
*1/2 cup Fage 0% Fat Greek Yogurt with the following mixed in
*1/4 cup Nature's Path Organic Flax Plus Pumpkin Raisin Crunch
*Laughing Cow Mini Babybel Light Original cheese
*10 Cherry Tomatoes
* 2 oz baby carrots
*1 Celery stalk
*1 mini cucumber
*2 mini sweet peppers
*1/2 of a Arnold Pocket Thins Flatbread - 8 Grain
*1 oz Spinach
*2 oz Baby Portabello Mushrooms
*1/2 packet Wholly Guacamole packet
*2 oz Meat - (varies between deli Turkey, deli Ham, canned Chicken, canned Tuna)
*Nature Valley Trail Mix Fruit & Nut granola bar
I try to keep our dinners healthy by planning ahead as often as possible, but that can get difficult. With how busy our nights seem to get I can often forget to pull something out for the next day. I am working on pre-planning for dinner and trying new recipes.
If I don't prep all that on Sunday, I don't often make the healthiest choices. And I don't have time to prep for the next day every night or in the morning. This is a small part of my success.
