Hi everyone.

So I went to Curves yesterday and asked to have my height measured as I don' t remember having been measured that way in years. The last time I was 4'10 inches. My tallest was 4 ft. 11 and 3/4 inches. Imagine the shock when I found out I was 4 ft' 7 and 3/4 inches. Wow..I am shrinking even more than I thought thanks to my aging and scoliosis. I do have a predominant curve in my neck and spine. I just pray I don't get too much shorter. My 126 pounds is too much for my height now. But yet I had difficulty maintaining 120 and decided 126-128 was good but now I'm now so sure. The charts say 105 to 110 but I can't believe that would be healthy at age 64. I am happy that all of my bone density tests have been good...I am not fat anymore...I feel good. If I can lose more weight..great...but if not it's ok. I am at my goal range now. Ahhh, the joy of aging! LOL

I would ask your doctor about the weight range. Aging - it beats the alternative emoticon But it can be tough to take. Have a wonderful day!

Yes...I've gone from 5"5 to 5'3. Sure do wish the width had changed with the height! I have to hem up all my slacks now!

We are the incredible shrinking women!

I am about 5' 7 1/2 inches at age 47. I haven't had my height measured in quite a while. I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow. I think I will have them measure me!

I was surprised to find that I am shrinking, too. I was 5'3", now only 5' 1 1/2". I hope I don't shrink any more!

I too have lost two inches! A few years ago when I had lost a little height I just figured she measured wrong! How's that for denial? But this last time I was a full 2" shorter! No denying that. But I feel great and focus on keeping that going. I don't worry about the charts. i'm at a weight that I'm comfortable with. I will continue with the number of calories I eat and the exercise I do. That process will determine my weight. Be well.

    Hi Elayne,

Shrinking in the wrong direction can be a real shock to the system! I have already lost an inch in height and hope I don't lose any more...if only it was as easy to shrink in the directions we would all prefer! I also think it is more realistic to find a weight range and maintenance level that works for you and is achievable.

Even though my bone density is good I have been shrinking also. I have been told that it is the squishy parts between the bones that is shrinking. I used to be 5' 1 1/2 " and am now 4'11 1/4". I do find it harder to maintain good posture.

I am somewhat over weight according to the charts. However, the last time I was supposedly at a good weight for my height I was hospitalized and the dietitian was desperately trying to fatten me up. A good friend of mine was told by her doctor that the main reason she didn't die from her cancer is that she was somewhat overweight so that when she lost a lot of weight, that didn't kill her. I figure a few pounds extra, not too many, is good insurance!

I was surprised to find out that I am still the same height as years ago. I am not tall at 5'3" but I don't want to lose any inches. emoticon

Yep, we seem to be shrinking in the wrong way.

I'm shrinking also! I won't get to the weight that the charts say I should be. That is the weight I was in high school and can't see me getting there and maintaining! You need to do what is comfortable for you and a weight that you can maintain!!!

I went to have a bone density test and I was measured as well. I was told I was 5 ft. I told them I am not coming in for another test because I came in here at 5'2" and am leaving at 5'. Everyone in the waiting room had a good laugh.
