Using more of the available tools

Living and eating and exercising in Mexico's Yucatan peninsula is very different from living and eating and exercising in Pennsylvania.

The weather is very hot here, so exercising outside in the baking daytime is not comfortable, and most likely not healthy. At nighttime or in the morning when the weather cools, it is very dark and the roads and sidewalks are not friendly to walking. I have been to one gym, it was an oven in the daytime, but cooler at night. Trouble was that they kept changing the times of the spinning class that I was taking and I finally stopped going when they changed the spinning time to 9 p.m. Too late for my mojo. But I need the cardio exercise. So this morning, after I did my floor stretches, I decided to pull out an exercise video from the Spark People tool box. I found a cardio workout for beginners and intermediates and it was a fantastic start.

Food is different here, and not always found in the Spark People food search. So now I'm doing my own research for nutritional value of the foods that I find here and the recipes that I use, entering that information into my favorites. Now I'm just a click away from including the fresh coconut water and coconut meat, octopus, camote, maracuya, etcetera, that are part of my daily diet in my food record.

I also am paying more attention to things like rewards, and spinning the spark wheel, and spark points accumulation. They all are motivators to keep with the changes that I am making for myself.

Next tool out of the box: community involvement.
