Maybe I'm a "couponing queen", but I don't really label myself as such. There are real queens who are making a living sharing their couponing knowledge with others. I admit that I follow some of their practices and advice. In many instances I am happy to share what I've learned with others in order to help whenever I can.
Case in point, paying it forward to support our military families abroad with Troopons(r).
A couple years ago my church bulletin announced that the parish is collecting coupons, current and expired, to help military families. That's when I realized that I don't have to recycle my unused coupons but rather pass them along to help these families who are managing to make ends meet while their loved one serves our country.
Here are some specific suggestions how you can help share your unused coupons that benefit Troopons:
o If all your children are grown, put aside those coupons for baby items.
o If you have a favorite brand of personal care products (tooth paste, shampoo, deodorant, etc.) clip all the others and pass those coupons along.
o Don't drink soda? Pass along all those beverage coupons.
o Have your own favorite brands of laundry detergent and household cleaners? Send all others to Troopons.
Now, you might be wondering...
How do I get these coupons into the right hands so they will be used? Check around to see if there is a volunteer group doing this in your area. If not, go to Troopons, a part of Support Our Troops(r). Here is the link:
Read the FAQ, follow the guidelines and send them off. You can start supporting our troops and their military families today! Maybe you can even initiate a Troopon volunteer group in your church, local library or community center to get more coupon clippers involved.
My grandparents used to tell me that they supported the troops during WWII by rationing everyday necessities and buying war bonds. These are different times. I am proud to support our troops with Troopons! You can too!
