Running Payday

Monday, October 08, 2012

What a super exciting weekend. It was a much needed one too. I had the week from Haydes last week and a string of bad luck last week, but I am happy to report the stress level has diminished and I think my luck turned around (two days in a row anyway).

Went shopping on Saturday, found my favorite collectable shoes, on sale, so I had to splurge (less than $30). I only visit this store maybe once or twice a year so I figured I better load up - 17 new lovely shoes to add to my collection.

Didn't do my long run on Saturday, had a headache so I beat myself most of the day about it, so I planned to do it on Sunday. I headed out the door and I got exactly one block and it started to pour, so I turned around and went back home, bummed. I got DH to set up the treadmill, managed two miles on that before I said....the heck with this. I hate the treadmill. It had stopped raining so I decided to get out and try it again. This time, no rain. The whole time I was running I thought, geez I'm tired, why didn't I just skip it, well...this new mantra I had been repeating to myself really kept me going...

"Don't quit when you're tired, quit when you're done"

The whole time I'm running I usually scan the pavement for coins, I'll stop in a heartbeat to pick up a penny. So my runs usually net about 10 to 15 cents, on a good day it can be 30 cents. Well let me just say.... yesterday was payday. I had just finished my 7-mile run and was walking my usual cool down quarter-mile and I looked down on the sidewalk and low and behold, a $5 bill, so I bent down to pick it up and even better.... it was three $5 bills. Woo hoo, I was so danged excited I sprinted home to show the DH, woo hoo, woo hoo. So for all my family and friends who think I'm nuts for stopping to collect coins, get a load of this pic.....

Can you tell I was giddy and goofy? LOL.

Lastly, I want to give a huge shout out to my my buddy MZSLYDE01...she ran her first 5K race on Saturday and rocked it. Way to go lady, hop on over to her page to give her a big WOO HOO !!!

Payday indeed! I use any $5 bills I have as mad money . . . don't pay for much in cash, so I don't get a whole lot of em!

Never found any cash on my runs . . . does the little garden snake I almost stepped on today count as lucky??

I knew you loved shoes BUT holy cow, didn't realize the depth of your passion! I found a $20 once and felt like I hit the jackpot LOL. I think Coach Nancy posted a blog once about how long it took her to collect $100 on her runs... it's an awesome goal and adds fun along the way. Great job getting out there when you weren't feeling the burn; sometimes that's when I do my best... funny huh! emoticon emoticon

One day my DH was walking across the street and found a $20 bill. We did our errand, walked back across the same street, and he found ANOTHER $20 bill! That has never happened to me. Great job on the run and the money!

You are so funny! Love the picture with the cash! And good job on not giving up, even when you didn't quite feel like running. See? Ya got paid for it, too. Still laughing.
When we were little kids, my older brother always told me "look for money" when we went anywhere walking. We were poor, so every found penny helped. Thanks for the memory!

Girl - WOW I have to say that money pic motivates me to get outside to do my walks/runs more often... LOL. Glad you found it - it paid for half your shoes.. Ha Ha. AND THOSE SHOES ARE SO ADORABLE. You picked some really cute ones. Can't believe how many they had.
So Thanks for the shout out and the awesome comment on my blog. I feel pretty excited about Saturday as you know. I am very proud. It feels so great. I will use your mantra when I am doing my runs from now on. I will post the pics on my blog tomorrow too. WOOT WOOT.

Great shoes. Never knew that running had such extra pay days. Sound like a sign to me that this week is a much better week if not we know that you will push threw it. Have a great week. emoticon

That's great about finding money. Good job a
on getting a run done too.

The shoes are pretty cool. we used to get my MIL collectable shoes until she told me one day that she really did not like them after getting them as gifts for 20 years.

Congrats on your $$ find. And, of course, congrats on hanging tough (as usual). You must have one large closet, to be able to store all of those shoes.

I know what you mean. When I woke up for my run on Saturday, I felt like crap and didn't want to run. Those are the days that we have to push through and it was worth it, a new personal best for distance and time.

I expect something nice with that $15 lol.

You must be a pro now that you are making money for running!!! LOL
Congrats on the shoe find, and way to go - sticking with your run. I hope today is as good as your weekend was.
