Finally taking the price tag off

I have been trying to dress better lately. I'm usually always wearing jeans and gym shoes with a basic top. T-shirts on the weekends, a little bit nicer top for work. I have been trying to improve my wardrobe, but usually only buy tops, because pants are so hard to find for me, that I dread even trying any on. So anyway, I figured I would not worry about the jeans and just start wearing nicer tops and I'll work the bottom half when I lose more weight. After a couple weeks of this, no one has really noticed - but I don't care. I feel better about myself. Last week I tried on a pair of jeans that a friend convinced me to buy. I was never comfortable wearing them, they were too tight and the rise was too low - I was afraid to sit down. Well, they fit now - nicely. I was so happy that I finally got to take the tag off after looking at them in my closet for 3 years. So I have been going thru my closet and trying on clothes that either I bought thinking "this will fit as soon as I lose a few pounds" and then never did lose any weight, or things that no longer fit but I was unwilling to part with. Not everything fits great, but I'm not too far away from being able to wear everything I have tried on. This is really motivating. Now instead of looking in my closet and then berating myself, I'm excited to put together my outfit for the next day. People will eventually notice - but I'm feeling good even if I'm the only one to see the improvement.
