I know this is Friday, but is it Friday, the 13th???
This morning I arose with lots of energy and had so many jobs started. Before house got too warm, I decided to make DH a cherry crumb pie. After all, I needed to use that one pie crust and finish up the crumb topping in fridge. Made a big pie with two cans of cherries and nice amount of crumbs. It baked beautifully and when it was boiling over all around, I knew it was time to take it out. The oven liner caught the excess. But I didn't know how to get hold of it so put a large, heavy baking sheet up to the rack, used a wooden pull thing to get it onto pan.
Just as it was all on the tray, it shifted to right end, flipped onto oven door upside down. But the crust and a little filling stayed in piepan so I took big spoon and put the filling back in. Now the crumb topping is all mixed with the cherries! DH will eat it anyway because he puts it in bowl with milk or ice cream.
Just took me about two hrs. to clean up the mess! At 425 F., the cherry filling promptly started cooking to the glass in door and crumb topping was everywhere. Still some under stove drawer where I need some help to clean there.
But there is always one good side to a story! I am so grateful that not one drop got on my hand-made Amish braided wool rugs that were just cleaned. I have had them for so many years and prize them Just put them in kitchen over hardwood a few months ago.
THEN, was talking to son on phone and with one hand was shining oak cutting board table top (I rub it with beeswax every few days) Lifted 1/1/2 inch oak leaf and dropped it down on my ring finger of right hand catching it between two heavy oak parts of table. It promptly turned purple at base of nail and later realized the ball of finger is very large and deep purple. Can't even type with that finger!
Are you sure it isn't Friday, the 13th???

Seems like when one thing goes wrong, several things go wrong. I hope your finger is ok.

Oh my goodness, what a day you had. I have had days like that myself. One time I dropped a whole large baking dish of homemade cabbage rolls on the floor when I was taking them out of the oven. Be safe and I hope your tomorrow will be wonderful.

Oh my gosh, you have had your home accidents. but be careful for they say things always happen in three's.
The pie sounds good regardless of where the crumbs are. Especially with a scoop of ice cream.
Little hurts like smashed fingers hurt worst than big hurts.
    take it easy
There are no more Friday the 13th this year.
    Be strong, stay positive.

Oh my - what a day you've had!!!! Nothing like a series of crazy things to stop you in your tracks!! BUT sounds like you've kept your sense of humor in tact - even though the right hand ring finger sounds like nothing to laugh about!!! Hang in there - tomorrow will most certainly be a better day!

Oh & IF you want to look on the bright side - the oven is clean AND I imagine with all the nonsense over the pie, at this point you can't stand the sight of it & it won't be temping!!!!

    Thanks for sharing!
