Prednisone vs myself
Friday, October 05, 2012
In April I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease. It has not gotten better since then, but has not been too bad. My doctor says I should physically being doing worse than I am, by what he sees when he looks at the CT scans they have done. I've had three CT scans done since May. The last one showed that my abcess of my colon has been resolved, but the inflammation in my ileum is a foot long section. I have now been taking Prednisone and Imuran for the past few days. The prednisone is to be taken for 10 weeks. The biggest side effect of prednisone is wait gain. yippee...not. Some people with Crohn's lose a lot of weight. I've only lost ten pounds, and am still overweight. I am not going to allow myself to gain weight from this prednisone, so I have begun eating within my calorie range to lose weight, and hope to exercise at least three days a week. I think that three days a week exercising is a good start. I am a very busy person- I work 50 hours a week at my adult foster care homes, two part time jobs, and a full time student. Trying to fit in exercising has been a struggle, so I need to start out at three days a week I think. Sorry if I'm rambling, which I feel like I am, just felt like writing a blog to get back into using sparkpeople!
