For the past week, I have not been able to sleep hardly at all. I think I'm getting 2, maybe 3 hours of sleep on a good night. I'm fairly sure it's because I fubared my sleep schedule last Friday night when my work schedule turned weird (had to do last-minute rearranging of shifts to cover a sick coworker) and I decided that rather than attempt to sleep between midnight and 3am between jobs that I would just stay awake instead.

That did not go well. Driving my paper route without any rest probably did not make me the safest driver on the roads. I was tired and dizzy. I did sleep quite well after the route but....well, since then, I've been spending hours each night just tossing and turning. Last night, I finally gave up and spend three hours just reading, then went back to tossing and turning. It was 2am when I notice the clock, and I fell asleep somewhere between then and 3am, so not a lot of sleep. I did get a couple hours after coming home from the paper route.

It sucks, because I typically go to the gym after the paper route. Guess what I haven't done all week? I've been getting other exercise in (hiked Sugarloaf on Fidalgo Island yesterday....a short hike, but very steep), but I really would like to get some sleep at some point. I'm hoping in the next week or so things will go back to normal, because I really am not liking this whole no-sleeping thing.

On the bright side, I've finally finished reading "The Girl with a Dragon Tattoo". It's a longish book. I somehow missed it in the films, but in the book it's clear that Blomkvist is a total Mary Sue! It's almost agonizing. I wish I could physically reach into the text and yank him out and beat some personality and dimension into him, it's that aggravating! Augh! I'm still going to finish reading the trilogy, though...

I THINK my sleep schedule is getting back on track. Unfortunately, it's one of those weekends where I'm going between swing and day shift, so I don't really have time to find out. I'm falling asleep now, though.

The new movie does a fair job. I think Daniel Craig actually makes a better Blomkvist, though I prefer Noomi Rapace over Mara Rooney for Salander. Both movies are fairly close...I'd have to say I probably prefer the Swedish ones, but they are pretty dang close.

For the book, I have to echo what others have said before: starts out slow, but it picks up. Though if I took a shot for every time Blomkvist had an implausible and unlikely sexual encounter, it would not take me very long to get drunk. Like I said, his Mary Sue-ness is much more apparent in the books!

Insomnia is the worst. However, ever since my surgery I have been sleeping really well. LOL I actually think I am overdoing the exercise but, oh well. Hope you find some peace soon.

I've never read that book but saw the foreign film version of it. Crazy good. Really intense. Haven't seen the newer version though. Am afraid I'd have nightmares. Don't worry about exercise right now until you get your sleep straightened out.
