Juice Fasting: Day 3

Tuesday, October 02, 2012

Starting Weight: 179
Current Weight: 175
Total Weight Lost: 4 pounds

So, today is Day 3. I went for a 30 minute swim this morning. It wasn't as intense as I normally swim, but I didn't want to do too much. Since I'm only consuming juice, I want to make sure that I don't over exert myself.

I'm feeling much better physically today than the past two days. My headache is continuing to improve, although it's definitely still there. However, MUCH better than Sunday. My back is not achy like it was on Sunday and Monday, although that may have been exacerbated by being on my feet for 8 hours at a time at work.

Today, I really want to eat. Food is really calling me. Not necessarily junk food (although I did dream last night about a huge cake with delicious thick sugary frosting); I would love some coffee; one of the whole wheat cinnamon rolls that are in the freezer; a delicious hot out of the oven vegetable lasagna; chili; pumpkin pie; spaghetti with tomato sauce and parmesan cheese. I think I'm really craving comfort food because it's a wonderful fall day. Cold vegetable juice just isn't the thing I want right now. So I made some hot Tazo peppermint tea. And I told myself this is only temporary and reminded myself of all the reasons that I'm doing this. And then I have to do it again five minutes later. Aaaaaah. I've been quite hungry last night and today, so I think once I get past the hunger phase things will get a lot easier. I've had some strange cravings during this fast so far. For example, on Sunday, I was craving cherry yogurt. I think it was something about the texture of the cherries in the yogurt. Strange, but it did go away.

Anyway, I think the first few days, even week, will be the hardest, then things will get easier.

I went to GNC today and bought some vitamins - D and B12. Going on the fast prompted me to get them, but they are something I should be taking anyway since I'm vegan-ish, and my consumption of fortified soy milk and fish is random.

I'm hungry.

Be aware that if you are too low with calories/nutrients/minerals for more than two or three days your metabolism will slow and it will be more difficult to lose weight.. Better to mix it up by a day or two of fasting then a day or two of raw fruits and veggies and a day or two of normal eating.. and cycle it..
