This today from Dr. Oz ~
Breathe Out Your Stress
Medical research has shown a connection between body and mind. Biochemicals called neuropeptides carry signals from the brain to every cell in the body, which means that if your brain is stressed, your body is, too.
The good news is that this means you can use your mind to relax your body, a technique that is especially helpful in times of stress.
Everybody has their own form of stress relief. Massage? Bubble bath? Cuddling? A run? A toenail trim? Whatever works for you (as long as it's healthy) is great. But one of the best ways to relax is to practice deep breathing exercises. Deep breathing forces your mind to relax, delivers more oxygen to your bloodstream, and even enhances the immune system's ability to fight infection.
So, this week, find a quiet room and sit in a chair with your hands in your lap and your feet on the floor. Close your eyes and take a deep breath. Feel your chest and abdomen expand, and hold for three seconds. Then slowly exhale over five seconds. An easy way to count is to say the word "relax" five times. Wait three seconds, then repeat. Do this ten times.
Do you feel calmer? Try to hold onto this feeling for the rest of the day, and repeat this exercise at least once a day this week.
Well....maybe this isn't a bad idea! There are times when we all need to decompress and this sounds like a quick, simple way to do it. I'm gonna give it a try and maybe you will too?? Anything that helps is good!
Thanks for stopping by today if you had time. Hope your Monday is gonna be great!!
