Never give up, never surrender!!!

Monday, September 24, 2012

Live by those words if you are ready to commit to a healthy lifestyle and become the fittest person you can be. I stole that slogan from the game show Wipeout. There was a contestant who shouted those words all the way through the courses. She didn't win, but she still came across to me as a very determined and strong woman. I'm going to make it my new motto.

I hit my goal and am not really trying to lose any more weight. Right now I'm committing to stick with healthy eating and exercise for enjoyment and to improve my fitness. Even when you reach your goal there is work to do and goals you can make. It's all a part of life. You make goals but when you reach them you have to make more goals.

If somebody goes on a diet to lose weight they need to realize that once they reach their goal that they are going to have to keep working. You can look at it the same way as a marriage. Yes you found the love of your life, but just because you got married doesn't mean you will be together forever and ever. You have to be willing to continually working on your relationship and keep that love alive.

Weight loss is the easier part. You have a clear goal in mind, to drop those pounds, and if you are doing it right you will be seeing results. Once you hit maintenance you don't have that same high. I miss stepping on the scale and seeing another pound gone.

I learned that you work just as hard to maintain a healthy lifestyle as you did to achieve it. You have to accept that you will struggle or even fail sometimes but it never means that you have to quit. Don't ever give up on yourself. You don't want somebody you love to give up on you. Love yourself and don't ever give up, especially if it's important to you!

You are SO right. I have been treading water lately because I need to set some hard and fast goals for myself. It is amazing how much easier it was to LOSE the weight with that goal always in mind.

Thank you for letting me know i'm not the only one! emoticon

Love this blog. What a great comparison between marriage and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. They both are ongoing work! And I couldn't agree more, weight loss is exciting. Maintenance is boring at times. But fitness goals are so much fun! I try to give myself a new one each month. Sometimes they're simple like a number of push-ups or timed planks. Anything to stay motivated and see progress beyond the scale!
