Clean Eating - oh it tastes so good!!

I Googled clean eating menu plan and actually found a magazine called Clean Eating and they offer menu plans for every season. So I figured I'd give them a try. I'm trying to eat this way because I have so many food allergies and intolerances, and I am starting to pinpoint my most severe food's potentially a food coloring or flavoring. So that means to be safe, I need to stay away from as much processed food as possible.

Anyway, this way of eating is not for everyone - it's time consuming and expensive. But the food tastes amazing. It's so fresh and flavorful.

The summer plan had a sweet & spicy fruit salad that I couldn't get enough of. I had my dietician look at the menus and she thought they were great and creative. If you want to give it a try, I do recommend it. My main tips would be to double-check quantities on the shopping list and maybe sub in some stuff. I went straight off the shopping list that comes with the meal plans and ended up buying a loaf of rye bread, a loaf of wheat bread, a bag of pita bread, and a bag of English Muffins, when I only needed one of each. The next week, I just subbed in pita bread for all the meals. Much cheaper!!

    I used to subscribe to that magazine.. I let my subscription lapse. I recently picked up the latest issue. They do have some budget friendly recipes.. I have tried a few of their recipes... They have always turned out great. I think I have tried more of their recipes, then I when I had a subscription to Eating Well.

    Sounds like a really interesting approach. It also sounds like a reasonably healthy plan. I favor more natural and less processed foods anyway and always go with the IN SEASON foods. I will be interested to see how it works out over time.
