UGH!

Saturday, September 22, 2012

I haven't felt well all day-woke up to a very sore back and have had acid reflux all day. As I said, ugh! The refulx has gotten rather severe lately. I have been staying on track and not eating bad so I'm sure it's not that but just this hiatal hernia I now have. I can't even pick a food item that brings it on as it doesn't seem to matter what I've eaten. I still did a little baking this morning for our neighborhood social and had a good time. My husband actually went along and visited with the other 3 men who showed up. Since I wasn't feeling up to a big meal I offered grilled cheese for dinner but he didn't go for that. He went out and bought himself what looked like about the biggest fast food burger he could find. That would make about 5 burgers this week for a guy who is 100 lbs overweight and is a diabetic. Will it take landing in the hospital for something to get through his head?? He didn't quit smoking until he had spent 3 days in the hospital with chest pain they never diagnosed (had it again a couple years later and it turned out to be his gall bladder, but still).

Oh, I even managed to do my pushups for the day although still haven't done any other exercise. Maybe I'll get in a sparkvideo before the evening is over. If I don't I will have to get some exercise done tomorrow no matter what!

I'm thinking I may have missed thanking folks who responded to my last blog and for that I am sorry-I'll try to pay more attention in the future!

I know what you are talking about on your hiatal hernia - I have one too. Have had it for years...I am glad they found it early, so that the medication I am on can help it, so it doesn't get worse. I take Prilosec-the generic Omeprazole is cheaper. Best thing for it! Have you taken meds for it? I take 20 mg. now, but used to take 60 mg when I was first diagnosed. Hope yours feels better soon. I do pretty good, except if I overeat!
Sounds like your husband is like mine-but he has gotten better! Mine is diabetic too and he loves to eat! The heaviest overweight he was was 120 pounds! He has lost 50 pounds of it, but he can sure make Whoppers disappear like nothing flat! I really have to get after him and of course, he doesn't like it, when he wants what he wants. Grrrrrr
Yes, it is frustrating...sometimes I think he is in denial. And he has had 2 stents in his heart 2 years ago and should have lost the other weight by now, instead of fooling around with his health! I hope both of ours gets wiser soon!!

Kerry, You amaze me how you can keep on going with the exercise even when you aren't up to it. I hope today you are better and feel more like exercising. Hugs.

Kerry I hope you reflux is better. I have it too. They wanted me to give up chocolate, alchohol, tomatoes, caffeine.....I chose to take a pill. I can't live without tomatoes and chocolate!

As far as DH I always thought it would take a major health scare to make me lose weight. Sometimes we just don't want to give up things we love...

Kerry I hope your condition improves. I work with several people that suffer from acid reflux and it can be miserable. What I find interesting is the list of foods they need to avoid. They aren't items that I have considered, such as tomatoes.
