I've made quilts for many years. Not showpieces -but heart pieces. I'm sitting on one now that I made when my father was dying of cancer. It's the "by the light of moon-it will be alright" quilt. Jimmy Buffet has a song with those lyrics (Frenchman for a Night)...The design includes moons-of course and night skies and tiny pieced brightly colored inner border. It has always brought comfort to me-even though I cried a river while making it.

...My daughter came by this evening to learn to make her own quilts --to honor her son-my grandson's first birthday. He was in NICU unit for the first 10 days of his life and was given a handmade quilt in the hospital. She is making several to donate to the NICU where he was born. She chose such peaceful colors. The quilts will surely be a blessing to another mother-leaving her newborn at the hospital-just as her son's quilt was a blessing to her.

Perhaps I need to start a "new knees" quilt. It would need to represent new strength and wellbeing. -maybe an "I'll be kicking some a** now" quilt. OHHHHLadies...! I think I like that attitude!

What a great attitude, indeed! I, too, am a quilter and love to have more time to devote to it. So, I joined Project Linus and now I have at least one Saturday morning a month helping others at the same time enjoying my love of quilting. Happy quilting!

I LIKE that attitude too!! I think that's so sweet your daughter wanted to learn how to make the quilts as well. Nice mother/daughter time. I'm sure the hospital will appreciate them as well.

I'd like the new knees quilt - make it like a lap quilt to just cover mylap, knees and toesies...Sounds like we might need them here in IN tonite -- supposed to be the coldest its been in awhile. A Sparked quilt might be nice too!!! Will have to ponder that....
