Well, here we are ending another summer once again, where did it go? The time went so quickly, can't believe we are going to be in the snow and ice in just a few months. Usually by the end of October, it is iffy that it won't have snowed. And for those who aren't familiar with Canadian winters, the snow stays sometimes until April. Driving stinks, the roads are icy, it's damned cold (rarely above the freezing mark, and more times than not, quite a bit below zero!
I am today trying to get the last of the outdoor work done, laying the stones down in the garden, levelling out the soil that I have dug up and rearranged all thru the summer.
Next summer, I start the entire flower beds all over again, I have dug up everything this summer including the perennials, time to start fresh. I will spend some of the winter pre-planning the new garden, thanks to Lois Hole. For anyone around our area, she is a household name, she has written numerous books about growing in our climate, and owned one of the most well known greenhouse in the area. She passed away a few years back, but was a great person, always doing charity work, they even named a hospital after her. Anyway, for good information written in layman English, the books are great for cold climate growing. There are so many things that don't grow here not only because of the winder, but the short growing season in the summer being so restrictive also.
Well, obviously I don't have time to sit here writing this blog, so it's back to the great outdoors once again, shovel in hand !!
And, how is your day going??
