BLC 20 Before Photo and Plan

Saturday, September 15, 2012

Here is my before image. As I don't own a sports bra, or have any shorts. Jeans and a tank top was best I could do.

My plan is to mainly work on toning up, as I am at maintenance and am not interested in loosing anymore weight. I will continue doing my cardio including walking and biking. I have been doing one timed 10K per week walking and one longer bike ride of at least more than 12 miles each week. This will continue. I may at some point do some kettlebell training, which I have one kettlebell and have only used it about two or three times so far.

Would like to add back in strength training. I have a somewhat hate relationship with strength training, as I consider it kind of boring. Did some strength training for the first time in a long time on Thursday for the BLC challenge's tighten and tone day which included lunges. Then I biked the next day for 15 miles and my legs are still sore mainly from those lunges. Definitely been too long since I have done lunges. I hate lunges! Fencing always had tons of lunges and the first few weeks one would come home very sore from all those lunges.

Will continue to track what I eat as best as I can. I will try not to have little cheats, which sometimes I do. Lately have weighed a tiny bit heavier than I have been but haven't chosen to do anything about it yet. I will do my best to stay in my calorie range.

I had no idea in taking my picture how to do a before image when I mainly want to tone up. I tried to experiment with making a muscle with my tank top, but ummm, need to shave my underarms a bit more if I am going to do that. And tried to experiment with tieing my shirt up a little bit, but didn't have enough shirt to work with. I don't own a sports bra and would never take an image of myself in one, even if I did. Do not own a swimsuit yet, but would like to get one. Maybe I will have to try another image shortly as I don't particularly like this one, but can't figure how to show a pretoned picture and after toning without it being something I am uncomfortable with. And boy, can you see my tan line. By seeing my tan line on my arms, you can see that I don't wear the tank tops out of the house yet.

Great plan. I had the same thought about the before picture -- didn't think about showing my best bicep curl. :-)

We can cheer each other on in the ST!

The best exercises for legs and rear: lunges and squats!

Way to move out of your comfort zone and post this pic! You have changed (in a good way) a lot since our first round together!!

Keep doing what you are doing as you are doing great!

I hate lunges, too, Skirnir! emoticon But, I love ST and the way it makes me look and feel. Boring? I've never found it to be -- certainly less so than, say, walking on a treadmill for an hour! Maybe it's just a matter of finding a ST routine that you enjoy? I simply put one together using the demos on SP (I have a full set of dumbbells and a rack system, so it's easy for me to do ST at home).

Love your pic, especially the expression on your face (kinda looks like a "Yeah, this is what I look like...whatareyagonnado?" kinda face, lol!).

Good blog and I really like your photo. You have a bit of an edgy look which makes you look like you have interesting thoughts. Looking at the other photos, seems like there is a wide variety of clothing. Yours looks great.
