Adam's appt, Day 5 of Peak313 challenge, and other random stuff....

Friday, September 14, 2012

We took Adam (my 12 year old) to his dr the other day for his arthritis. He has been having a lot of neck and upper back pain, she said it's the arthritis. She also noticed thickening in his wrists and ankles. He can't bend his wrist back very far. Most can bend back to a 90 degree angle, he's going about 30-45 degrees... We have tried the other medications and haven"t seen huge improvements... When she did the steroid injections on his knees, that worked, but the pills haven't. So she put him on a medication called Methotrexate. He takes 10 pills (they are tiny) once a week. She said it may take a few months to see changes, it has to build up in his system... I just want him to have relied from the pain and stiffness and be able to run around like a normal child!

Today was day 5 of the Peak313 challenge. I'm doing great with my workouts, that has never been a problem for me... Today was Insanity Plyo Cardio Circuit, and then I did Insanity Cardio Abs. Jon and I went to lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings, probably not the "best option" but I only ate about half of my lunch... I took the boys to a movie this evening and they wanted to take some candy corn mix. I had some, but I felt like I kept wanting more. No knew that if I kept it in kitchen I would keep eating it, small handfuls at a time until it was gone. So.... I opened the bag and poured it all into the bottom of the trash can! Good ridence and no temptations laying around!

Jon and I did a little shopping today... I had to get a baby gift for a friend that had her first baby, then I got a new pair of Asics for working out, and a cute pair of shoes for me... They are like ballerina flats, kind of a grayish/silver color, a small bow on the top (over where the toe area is, and the ends (toe area) are glittery. They are so cute (although that description sounds a little tacky, lol!). I got them at Kohls. After that we went to the cell phone place and the phone that we keep at home was up for renewal. That one had a media package on it (Internet, etc) and we didn't want the boys to have free range of that. We were able to get them each a phone (before they shared one) without Internet and it ended up costing the same amount we were paying for one. They were very happy when we gave them the phones tonight!

My youngest (Josh) has a football game in the morning. My husband won't be able to go with us because he is in a wedding at 11am, but he has to be there by 9 (which is when the game is). We are hoping to be able to meet him afterwards for the reception. Then we have church in the evening and a family night at the church after 2nd service. They call it "Fam Jam". They rented a big blow up screen and they are going to show a movie outside, and there will be tons of pizza for everyone. I invited a friend and her family, I hope they can come!

Wow Erin! Hope your little guy feels better soon. I know as moms we want the best for our kids so him not being able to run around has to pull at your heart strings. Praying for him this week.

Sounds like you had a great time with your family. Way to go on getting rid of the candy corn. I wasn't as strong but I did share with the kids. I normally would eat in secret and keep the bag hidden (embarrasing just to type that out!).God always provides an escape unfortunately I don't always take it. Learning to obey and not look back. Like you I have decided not to keep the tempting treats around. So far, so good.

Have a blessed week in the Lord!
