Hello All!

It's been a while since I've blogged so I thought I'd update you on what's been going on. At the end of June, I ended a 4 and a half year "career" with the BLC. No bad reasons--it's still THE BEST challenge team in all of Spark. LOVE the BLC'ers! But after 4.5 years (4 of which were spent in a captain and/or admin role) it was time to move on. Being in a leadership role takes a lot of time and my family suffered for it. So, along with 2 of my fellow admins, we bid a fond farewell (at least for now) to the BLC.

I had a lovely summer with my kiddos. We went to Ocean City, MD to visit DH's brother and his family. SO much fun! They spoiled us rotten with boat rides, jet ski adventures and general beach fun. The kiddos and I also went up to Ohio for a crazy fast trip to see my grandparents.

I am actively training for my first triathlon which happens 9/23 (eek!). I convinced another Sparker (love you right back, Mel!) that we needed to do our first one "together"--despite living hundreds of miles apart. Hers was this past Sunday and I am so proud of her. If you haven't read her post race blog yet, check it out. It's incredibly inspiring!

A little side note on the tri training. I am doing a Sprint Tri. After all this is my first one and I wanted to feel empowered and have success so the distances aren't huge: 250 yd swim, 9 mile bike ride, 2 mile run. All the same, if one more person tells me upon hearing the description, "Oh, that's not bad!", I'm going to scream. You're right. Each portion by itself isn't bad. But at my paces, with transition times, I'm *HOPING* to finish in the 1:30-1:45 range. So you know what, Mr. That's Not Bad? YOU try going full tilt for 90-105 minutes and then tell me it's not that bad! LOL!

All kidding aside, I really am enjoying the tri training. Especially the swimming. That's where I've seen the most improvement and it's heartening to look at the clock and realize I've shaved another minute off. I'm already searching for my NEXT tri, but it appears we are pretty much at the end of the tri season and the 2013 schedules haven't really come out yet. However, I WILL do more! I have an Olympic Tri and a Half Iron Man on my bucket list!

Other than training, I've been busy with school (I'm going back to get my degree in Accounting) and volunteering at my daughter's school. I am the PTA treasurer this year and that has really kept me on my toes!

    9/23 EEK!!! That's Right here!!!! Go Jeni Gurl! You rock that Tri...I know you have been working really hard toward your goals and accomplishing so many! You are a ROCK STAR...and I'm gonna be sittin' on your shoulder cheerin' you on...I'll be sure to pack some nose plugs! =D SO EXCITING!!!

    So glad to see your blog. I too dropped 2 of my 3 teams as too time consuming. I can't understand why SP won't make it easier for leaders in communicating with team members or giving goodies. guess there isn't enough money in it.??? I kept 1 small team as there was no one esle on the leader role to do anything.

    Sounds like you are doing great. Hope to see you on Fit Buckeye Fans. fun to predict the score...

    Good luck on your Tri!! I always laugh at the "BLC Break" it never stops, there's always planning that goes on every day. So there really is a life outside of the BLC?? emoticon

    Good luck at your tri next weekend, I hope you finish in the time you would like. I think it is admirable any distances that anyone completes! WAY TO GO!

    Just working, playing with the grandkids, gardening, canning, walking, strength training, hiking, etc. Trying to stay as busy as possible to keep the muscles strong and keep the weight going down. I hope you have a good day and sounds like you are a busy person.
