Learning and Losing

This is the end of my 1st wk with Spark People and I am amazed at how much I have learned! The food tracker is awesome. I never really realized how many calories I was taking in in a day. I just ate if I was hungry, if I was happy, sad, tired, worried, whatever. Food just had control of me. Now, for the 1st time, I feel like I have control over food. I have also started excercising. For me, this is amazing because I am by nature a very sedentary person. If I feel overwhelmed or depressed, I usually just go to bed. Now I actually am starting to have more energy. I'm not where I want to be yet by any means, but I am closer than I have ever been. I don't have any scales yet, but I think I must be losing wt because I was able to get into a pair of jeans that just a few weeks ago I couldn't even get the zipper to meet! THAT was exciting after just 4 days of monitoring food intake and walking on my treadmill. Gives me motivation to keep on and makes me want to try even harder!

    Congratulations on your progress! It's amazing how those little changes can really make a big difference. You've discovered early what it takes some people a long time to realize - the best and most rewarding measure of your success is how you feel about yourself (not to mention fitting into those old clothes.) As you continue on this journey, make sure you take time to notice these changes in how you feel. It's easy to get caught up in the numbers, missing the forest for the trees. Keep up the good work!
