A Birthday, a Wedding & a Funeral and No "Forbidden Foods"
Wednesday, September 12, 2012
It's been an emotional roller coaster this past weeek as we celebrated my mom's 94th birthday, attended a neighbor's funeral and joined in the festivities of our nephew's wedding..........And everywhere we went there were tempting foods that years ago would have put me into an eating frenzy.
The wedding was the most amazing of all with endless appetizers being thrust at us at every turn.....I eagerly sampled a few foods I normally avoid eating including 1 coconut shrimp, 1 crab wonton and a small amount of a cannoli and then it occurred to me........I was totally happy just to taste a small amount of some of the foods offered and never once overdid it or felt deprived. I've been at this healthy eating thing for so long now it just comes automatically to make the right decisions..........And of course, I did allow myself a few things I normally would have turned away --- just knowing I'd be dancing some of it off later. I guess there really are no "forbidden foods" --- just everything in moderation. Thank you Sparkpeople for arming me with the tools needed to maneuver in this world of seemingly endless temptations..........
