Soccer Sunday afternoon

Monday, September 10, 2012

I always love going to church and hearing the choir and pastor as they spread the words of our Lord. It makes Sunday very special and is a great way to start the day!!!

Yesterday at 2:30 pm was McKenzie's first soccer game for this Fall Season 2012. Her team had an awesome game and so did she. She scored three goals and was very happy with herself. She played goalie during a good part of the game. I watched her and suddenly I realized how very far she has grown in the soccer games, rules and regulations. She has definitely matured as was very telling with her playing the goalie position.
Normally McKenzie is too hyper to stand still and wait for the ball to come to her as a goalie. She normally is swinging on the net bars, doing back and forward flips, back hand springs, cartwheels, etc. Anything to keep moving.
Today though she just stood watching the game and was right on and ready when the ball came to the net. It was very amazing and satisfying to see her playing her positions as they should be played. She knew her positions both on offense and on defense and ran with the ball. She was not afraid to kick the ball and follow it. It just seemed as though she suddenly read the book on soccer and remembered what she was supposed to be doing all the time!!!
I am not saying that she hasn't always been a good soccer player in each age bracket, but to see how she played today was truly great!!!
I can't wait to see more games of this caliber even if she is only nine years old!!! She has come a very long way!!!
Hope you enjoyed your day and all that came your way. God is great and life is grand!!! Praise the Lord for all He has done and continues to do in our lives. Trials and tribulations are minor when God is working with us and through us!!! Have faith and trust in the Lord for He knows what His plans are for each of us and what our actual needs are. Remember to hug your loved ones and share your smiles daily.
