September Challenge Day 8

8. What do you think will be different when you reach your goal weight? If you are in maintenance, what did you think would be different? What actually was different?

The main thing is that I think I will look and feel better in my clothes. And spend less time thinking about my body in a negative way. When I was closer to goal, I found myself being impressed with the progress, even though it wasn't ideal, I could see what I had done, and I felt good about that. Clearly this didn't happen this winter, but I do wonder if it will be easier to make healthy choices when I have a body that feels worth maintaining. That just reminded me that my friend Tanya always said that part of her success was appreciating the body she had at every step of the process! Maybe that is a renewed tool for today!

    Thanks everyone!

Jenny, that is one of my favorite quotes of all times. It really gets to the heart of it all.

:-) I am still amazed at how, as mad as I was to be 176, when I finally accepted that being a size 12-14 was probably my genetic destiny and started taking care of the body I begrudgingly accepted I ended up the weight I was whe I got married. I think there really was something about all the negative thinking that kept me at a size 12-14.

Know that it is not just your body that should be worthy of maintaining - but your soul as well. We are not just our bodies - YOU are worthy - no matter what the size of your body!

One of my favorite quotes by C.S. Lewis:
"You don't HAVE a soul. You ARE a soul. You have a body.”
    (the emphasis is mine)
