Walking it through

Sunday, September 02, 2012

I need a knee replacement after tearing everything but the PCL in my right knee. For the longest time my right knee has kept me sidelined. I made a couch potato like like a cheetah. When I moved, my knee ached. Over the past couple of years, my "good" knee has been picking up the slack for the other. I find it really interesting now that my right knee doesn't bother me but the left does, My knee ached so badly today that I almost didn't go for a walk. Funny thing though, once I got walking that left knee loosened up a bit and the pain diminished, I thoroughly enjoyed walking a mile with my hubby today. My Phil Phillips CD also made the walk enjoyable. Isn't he just the cutest thing? (Said in my best Lucy voice from Peanuts). He was my idol vote from the beginning,

I am the Phoenix rising from the ashes. And about the knee replacement? We'll see about that later. If I can manage the pain like I am now, I won't need it, emoticon

    YOU GO, GIRL.
THIS OLD LADY HAS HAD TWO KNEES REPLACED.
THE OPERATIONS ARE NO FUN, AND THE MORE WEIGHT LOST THE BETTER. THIS WAS MY PROBLEM.

THAT'S HOW IT WENT FOR ME ALSO. MY RIGHT KNEE WAS BAD, SO I BABY'D IT SO MUCH, I RUINED MY LEFT KNEE. SO WHEN THE DOCTOR ASKED WHICH KNEE HURT THE MOST, I SAID MY LEFT ONE. SO THEY DID IT FIRST, AND THE OTHER ONE THREE MONTHS LATER. IT TOOK ME ALMOST A YEAR TO GET THINGS REALLY FEELING GOOD, BUT THE PAIN WAS GONE AND I COULD GO FOR WALKS AND THE WATER AEROBICS ARE A GREAT HELP, EITHER BEFORE OR AFTER THE OPERATION

SO NOW I CAN WALK QUITE A WAYS (THOUGH NOT VERY FAST) AND MY KNEES DON'T HURT ANYMORE. I AM 73 YEARS OLD.

Kerry I have the same problem. I keep putting it off and putting it off. I DO find that if i walk more it doesnt hurt as bad..IF i do it consistantly!! Also..the ONLY place i dont hurt is in the water. if i could live there full time i would..because there is NO pain...
    Keep up the great job!!

My brother had a knee replacement a few days ago and he is not a happy camper right now. He is in more pain then when he started. So I'd say put it off if you can but don't wait too long.
