Update time!

I have such a weakness for convenience food! After fasting over lunch for a test today, I was heading home and planned to eat the soup I had made a few nights ago for this week's lunches. Instead, I stopped at a fast food joing. I'm not even sure why, and I'm trying to figure that out now. I was actually looking forward to the soup I had made, nice and comforting, and I still stopped. So weird!

Otherwise, I've been doing very well this week. Last night, I even snacked on carrots instead of grabbing junk or a second sandwich after dinner. I was able to (finally!!) recognize I was not hungry, it was just a headache making me think I was hungry. Kind of like when you need water, if that makes sense? I also try and eat away headaches, and feeling hungry just makes it that much harder to seperate hunger and headaches. I have to say, I'm pretty proud of that decision last night.

One thing I'm still really struggling with is dessert. I find myself craving something after dinner, while hubby and I relax in front of the TV. A small, low calorie dessert is fine, that's all I really want. Something to finish off the day. But, if I don't have something, more often than not I will munch on whatever else I can find, and would easily eat an entire meal's of calories if I let myself, just to get that same 'day is finished!' feeling. Anyone have any ideas for me? Tea, etc doesn't work, it has to be real food for me to get that feeling. I have found some great recipes here on SP, but with just two of us here, it's often hard to finish a recipe before it goes bad. So either it goes bad, or we end up eating it all to avoid waste and overeat. Halving recipes is an ok solution, but not all recipes lend themsevles very well to being halved.

No big long weekend plans just yet, but I'm hoping to find some steak or similar on sale at the store. Hubby deserves a little treat for everything he's been dealing with at work lately, and I know he would love to grill out some steaks for us. Maybe with a side of grilled veggies? We both LOVE carrots, leeks, and sweet potatos chopped and grilled in a foil packet. So yum!! Share your fun plans so I can get inspired too! lol. ;)

My favorite go to dessert besides fruit is Kroger carbmaster yogurt (60 calories). Sometimes add fruit or spoon of granola.

It sucks that junk food is so magnetic! But I know you are strong, and your goals are very important to you, so I am sure you will have a great weekend and a positive on-track week next week.

For my dessert, I have a hot chocolate!... mostly hot water, a small amount of skim milk, and a heaped teaspoon of unsweetened cocoa powder... it's really yum and squashes my need for chocolate or sweet desserts. (You could put a bit of no-cal sweetener in it if you need to.)

This weekend is Fathers Day in Australia, so I will be taking my children to see "Grandpa" on Sunday. I also work with horses and disabled children... so that's my weekend! I hope you find fun and memorable things to do this weekend too - when you are focused on doing things you can often forget about those food cravings!
