Oh No!

Wednesday, August 29, 2012

Last night I ate one chocolate dipped cone, and nine, yes nine, cookies from Schlotzky's. I almost made it a month on SP without binging. I don't know why I did that...was I mad? No. Sad? No., Anxious? No....I can't really identify what made me eat like that again.

I'm trying to have a good attitude and get right back on track. I haven't been reading my Bible as much lately since I got the job...perhaps I miss my Rock!

i just want you to know that you CAN still do this. Little setbacks are just that (little setbacks) When we get back up and keep moving forward we will continue making most of the right choices. We will continue to lose weight. And we will continue to improve on our weaknesses! I think the other gal said something about giving yourself more than a month to work through your habit of binging. I am not a binger accept a little when i'm on my period. My hormones tend to make me hungry and i just get a little crazy and hungry and don't think straight. Just take a deep breath..... Believe in yourself...know that God is with you... and ONE day at a time with God's help and encouragement and accountability from each other here at SP, we can do it! (lose weight and get healthy that is!) Blessings! - Kelly :) Never ever give up... YOU ARE WORTH IT! emoticon

How long were you a binger? I bet it has been a part of your life longer than one month, so you really should give yourself longer than a month to control binges.

Don't think of this as a mistake. Think of this as life. Cookies and chocolate covered cones really are ok once in a while...there is even some evidence that this kind of eating will keep your metabolism primed and ready to burn stored fat.

Your spiritual health should definitely be a priority, after all, we are all made up of body, mind and soul. Make the time to be with your Rock as much of a priority as working is. One of the best things Jesus ever said was..."This is how to pray..."

And then we were given the Lord's Prayer. If you don't have time for the bible like you want, fall back on this prayer...each day, God provides the manna we need. We can't store it, but we can trust it will be there as promised...and yes, sometimes manna is cookies and a chocolate covered cones! Your body may not have needed those sweets, but perhaps your mind did, and God knows this!

Please recognize all of your work as a success! Trust yourself to eat a little of the "bad" stuff!!! And keep on "Rocking"...pun intended!

    The good news is that:

    You stopped with one cone!

You did not go for a tenth cookie!

You had gone quite a long time without caving to a binge!

I believe all that to add up to a level of success!

The more you work on not binging - the longer between episodes - before you know it they will be a thing of the past.

God bless you with success upon success, my SP Sister/Friend!

UH OH !!! The mini binge was not that HORRIBLE, but I am finding what is really horrible is when I slip up on my Bible reading and prayers. I have a stressful job and there are a LOT of challenges that I face daily - this year is different from the past few in that I have made a decision to take 30 SECONDS every hour or sometimes MORE often - to stop, take time to identify something that I am grateful for and to say a small prayer. Then earlier this week I found a prayer that REALLY spoke to me and I have now laminated it and am carrying it around in my pocket to take out and pray as needed. I read it before I start my day and at lunchtime, and in between if things start to go crazy. Maybe that can help you also - just find something that speaks to your heart and make the time to fit it in.
