Roadrunner Triathlon

Monday, August 27, 2012

This past weekend I participated in the Roadrunner triathlon. It was held at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. The weather was beautiful, a little breezy on the bike but overall wonderful.

I was several minutes behind on the run mostly because I can't run and I race walk. I am not the fastest race-walker but I am a great cyclist. I made up 14 minutes on the bike and lost first place on the swim by less than a I am a happy camper!

I stayed with my daughter in Las Cruces, New Mexico. That was fun although I stayed up too late with her making salsa and I had a hard time sleeping because I just knew I would not hear my alarm. Ever have one of those nights when you roll over and look at the alarm every 30 minutes to see if it has gone off yet?

The ride/drive home was nice. On the flats by Deming New Mexico, there were many spot showers and as I got closer to Silver City the weather got stormier. By the time I got to the casa, it was a steady rain. My dogs were crushed because they wanted me to take them for a walk. They had to settle for me playing ball with them instead.

So a wonderful weekend was enjoyed by me. I will return to WSMR on the 8th of September for the Yucca Triathlon. It is a 6k run, 45k bike and 400m swim. Hopefully by then I won't be as sore as I am now!

Have a great week!
