Test-Restaurant dining

Twice since getting out of hospital we have had get togethers with my wifes coworkers at a couple of my favorite local restaurants. Both times I ate at home before we went and only sipped diet soda while we were there. Just used the time to enjoy the company. I never really felt tempted in any way either. What other tricks do you use to keep from eating out? Any great tips out there?

    I always pre-check the menu before (usually online) and determine if and what I can eat there first. I check as far in advance as I can, so if I need to adjust other meals or leave 'a cushion', I can. If there's really nothing (there's almost always ONE thing), then and only then do I eat ahead. I've also switched to water, especially when dining out. Cheaper and drinking Diet always inhibits my thirst for water and I won't get an adequate amount.

    Not from me...I am an eat out kind of girl. It's one of my worst habits. I did however give up soda for water at all times. I also heard that diet soda is worse than regular soda because of the content not the calories.

    I always get a giant glass of water, eat a big salad at home, or order a big salad with dressing on the side or bring my own dressing.. I also have fresh fruit waiting for me at home, this keeps me from feeling deprived while others eat dessert.. I have a special one at home!!

    check out the menu ahead of time and see if there is anything you can eat then you could order that
