Draggin' it

Friday, August 24, 2012

Sometimes, it seems as though I have to drag my bum to drag my butt.

As I sit here and prepare to log in my food, I am nodding off in my chair. Being a Friday, I worked today, putting out books at a local supercenter, which is a fair bit of exercise. That was the finish of a long, hard week, at least compared to usual, but it seemed like I had to slog through the whole week.

I did manage to squeeze in a new, if small, type of workout - bought a long, medium resistance band and did some of the SparkPeople videos. With my spinal disease, it's hard to find exercise that doesn't hurt, and this I can do! It's a start. Coupled with my part time job, I get some good strength training in.

I am hoping that as I drop some weight and regain some fitness, that cardio will become easier and I can figure out something that I wil be able to do without pain and that I will continue to do. For me, cardio is not and never has been a fun activity, so it's not easy to find something I will stick with.

Meanwhile, I am so glad it's Friday! I can try to sleep a bit more in the morning and maybe take a short nap tomorrow afternoon. Maybe the Mayor (my nickname for the hubby) will let me relax for a change. Ya think? lol

Once the weight comes off it will get easier. My mom hates exercise but it's because it causes her pain and she had a knee replacement. Not too much fun. Have a good Saturday

It may seems like it's not much to you but you did a lot! emoticon like what Edelweisss33 said about putting twists into it. I did that in my own kitchen & when I am cleaning the house. Added twist when I was turning from counter to the stove. She is right - I am having fun since felt like I am exercising my oblique.

Keep doing the small workouts - it will build your strength and make you stronger in no time. Walking is a very simple cardio - start regular/leisure walking eventually you will graduate to brisk walking.

Understand how you fell; when we have medical condition - listening to our body is the key. Be patience with your self emoticon slow & steady - It is your journey and you will get there! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Also I do imaginary workouts with the wii. that has kept me busy when I don't feel well at all.
