Making Me A Priority...

Yesterday my daughter finished her swim classes. She is able to do many things in the pool with assistance but will need to have some private lessons next month. While watching her at the rec center, I started watching the aquatics classes and found there were a couple of teachers I really liked. I am considering taking 2 classes a week. I did have a naysayer say, you need to wait because Emma will be back in school. Yes, she will. But I have to put myself first at some point if I am going to be healthier. Very frustrating. My comment was that I also want to be here to help Emma. And so I've got to make myself a priority.

Today, while reading a blog about someone's goals, they mentioned they are going to write down their rewards and how they hard time remembering to do that. It dawned on me that I also need to do that. Rewarding myself-in a healthy way-is so important. So I will have to make a list of rewards. I was always bad about rewarding myself in the past.

But for right now, I have set my POA up as follows:

Tonight I will grocery shop for my fruits to go in my shakes 2x's a day, veggies, lean meats, Ezekiel bread, natural peanut butter and other healthy options. I will have my last "bad" meal tonight-a not so good for me burger.

Starting tomorrow I will have a shake for bfast & lunch and healthy dinner. Emma & I will go to the pool for her play date (I SO detest that expression, why do you have to make a date to play???!?!?!?!?!?!). I'm not sure what kind of swimming I will be able to do but I will get some exercise! Work days will be a shake for bfast & dinner with a healthy meal and 2 snacks in btwn.

I'm excited to start making some additional positive changes. I want to be cute for Christmas emoticon emoticon I've started thinking about going on vacation next year with a smaller body! I know I'm doing well & am on the right path if I'm thinking along these lines emoticon

    I am glad you are figuring out what works for you. I sometimes tell my husband that I have to run or do some work out and ask him to remind me and not let me skip it. That way he understands that I am trying to make myself the priority instead of getting sucked into family or other things that I tend to do instead of focus on me time.

    Hey Ms sunshine, I always think of you that way, I hope your day has started off right ! I know you can rock this thing and be so Happy at christmas !!

    We will keep each other motivated ......K??? Let me know how the water classes go.... I've thought about checking into that myself..... I know the closer I will get to goal that I'll have to add some more exercise...

    Saw your comment on my blog, too... YES, let's get together soon!!! Do Wednesdays still work for you and Carla? I think if we can meet as soon as I get off work on Weds, we can get in a GREAT walk, and I can still go to the range on Weds nites. (Wanna come with? - I got extra eyes/ears you can borrow). I can always skip Weds at the range, since T and I go on Sundays too.

    Like many of us, I still find it hard to make 'me' a priority, but slowly over the past year, I've been making small changes in that direction. One of the biggest changes I've made is saying NO to things that demand my time and that I don't particularly want/need to do. Previously, I would say yes, and then waste a lot of time and energy resenting whatever I had agreed to.

    Good for you on developing your POA!! You can do it!!
