August 23, 2012 - - POSSIBLE ROTATOR CUFF TEAR

Thursday, August 23, 2012

Injured my left shoulder yesterday doing lateral lifts with 3# weights. Took today off from cardio. Think I might have to go to the dr's tomorrow and get it checked as tonight my arm is feeling worse and my hand is feeling funny. Possible rotator cuff tear. Husband had to help me get undressed tonight because of the pain. Tonight will definitely be a night for one or two Tylenol #3s.

While we were walking the dogs tonight, I had a neighbor tell me to go down to the hall and use the exercise equipments and exercise my arm - - - I DON'T THINK SO!!!!!!! She did notice that I had lost weight and commented on it. That's the first person who has said anything. Made me feel pretty good - a little motivation for me.

Will let you know what happens at the dr's tomorrow.

Ouch! FYI, I hurt my shoulder doing yoga. Could barely move my arms at times, especially lateral lift motions. I very gradually started swimming to build up muscle tone. Slow pace, a few laps, adding more distance a little at a time. After a couple weeks, my shoulder improved. I remember dancing in the shower the day I could wash my back! Money was tight, a friend had torn her rotator with similar symptoms are her doc's approach was massage to increase circulation and very gradually building muscle tone to support her shoulder joint. Healing thoughts heading your way!
