Hubby and I did the grocery shopping after supper on Tuesday night.
I set up appointments for our rottweiler to see the vet on Tuesday and for our cat to see the vet on Wednesday. I put a sheet over the back seat of my van. Some woman pulled out in front of me without using her turn signal and I had to hit the brakes, but Princess didn't fall off of the back seat.
Princess behaved very well and let the vet trim her nails without having to be muzzled. They also drew blood for a heartworm test and I got flea/tick medication and heartworm medication. I hadn't had money for them to give them every month, but Princess didn't have fleas or heartworms. I do try to brush my animals and fleas leave little specks in the hair that look like black pepper. Other than being a droolly dog while riding, her visit went fine.
I decided not to put Crellie in a cat carrier. She gets sick riding in one. I put a collar on her and she did fine on the way over to the animal hospital. She was fine at her visit too. The vet asked about our daughter's marriage since she used to work at the animal hospital. Our daughter sent them an invitation to the wedding in Wyoming, but they didn't go to the wedding. It is an expensive trip from Maryland.
When I went to put Crellie into the van, she tried to go up over my shoulder and jump off of me. I got her into the van, but my seatbelt buckle drops to the floor. I had to open the door to reach for it, and Crellie jumped out and ran behind the animal hospital. There was a hedge along the back of their property and she was between the building and the hedge. The grounds around the place are not well maintained and I was in a lot of undergrowth trying to catch Crellie. I remembered I left my driver's side door open and that my wallet was lying on the front seat. The animal hospital is across from a city park, so I went back to my van and locked the door.
Crellie ran from me just far enough to stay out of my reach. When I went back I couldn't see her. I stopped and listened for her to meow. She didn't. I went through the hedge and up on the driveway of a building and called for her. I thought I heard her and stopped and listened. Then I went to the end of the building on the opposite side from the parking lot and spotted her between the building and the hedge.
When I tried to grab her, she tried to go under a tank of some sort. I got her by the tail and then was able to pull her toward me and grab her. The trip home was uneventful with a lot of meowing from Crellie and she remained calm while I unlocked the front door. Lesson learned: It is better to clean up after a sick cat, than to have no cat at all.
Today I tried to get some laundry done so it will be done by the weekend. Hubby made the phone call this evening about getting new spouting put on the house. He also said he would start walking with me in the evenings. At his last check up he was fine, but his weight has gone up.
I am stressing about trying to get all of this work done before our first snowfall There are usually flurries by October 31st. We need a new chimney, spouting repairs or new, and two windows replaced.
