Who ever thought I would motivate others???

Thursday, August 23, 2012

So it's been a little shocking to me to say the least that I have:

1. Stuck with this and done it in the most healthy way I knew how
( minus my little snafu with calories for a while but on track now)
2. That I did it without pills or aids of any kind
3. That I actually got active, really active!
(and I love it)

and then number 4.. that I have motivated others in my life to look at their own weight, wellness and health.!!! WOW!

I now have a group of anywhere from the dedicated 2 - 4 that join me at Zumba 2 x per week AND in October 2 more plan to join... that's 6 friends I've brought along my journey... and it's not me really I sure they are coming for... but I like to think my ringleading to find the class and get them all to come with me is in some way related to the dramatic change in my own fitness level and weight loss they have seen...

And I am so glad... I love my friends dearly and wish for the them the same I know wish for me... health and wellness.... and a life filled with all the joy you can shove into the awake hours of a day....

It's just still shocking to me that I have lost 67.5 pounds!!! I have NEVER done that!

And I feel so good, I feel happy and stronger and more well... alive.

I think about those 67 pounds and what that really meant for my life long term... and trust me I was on an upward trend, the average 5 more pounds per year and that was a trend I was not keen on sticking with...

I find it funny how my whole outlook in life has started to shift... it's odd... I feel I am now more able to be my true self and embrace the things I only embraced mentally before but never in true action....

For instance I always thought of myself as someone who would do yoga...who had the same mindset and spiritual leanings of meditation but I guess it never mattered, or I felt stupid and fat... or whatever it was... but inside I "felt" like that girl... but I never acted on it and "became" that girl.... I also "felt" like someone who was joyful but often my negative attitude about myself would rain buckets down on my joy till it no longer could fly.... now I actual "am" the joyful person I always felt I was...

I know this all a little abstract and I'll conclude with this:

I am so glad that my journey has motivated other in life and on sparkpeople... it is not that it makes the journey more "valid" but it does make the process more fun and accountable and gives me a great joy to know that in some little way, even if only a tiny bit... my better choices are helping others make better choices and I truly think that is beautiful... and eprhaps why sp works for so many... we all share our choices and this spins a beautiful web of sparkly choices around and as such we all do better... I'd like to live in that world all the time, you know. :)

I am so proud of where I am today eventhough goal one is still 3.5 pounds away from my reach... I am so in awe on how far I have come... and that I am learning new things and trying things I always wanted without reservation (or at least without much) and with a joy and zest for life I always felt... but did not always show...

And it really does seem to be true that the more we support and motivate others, the more energy we have in supporting and motivating ourselves.

    YOU motivate me as well.

I may be at my goal, but your journey has been amazing to watch. You have helped me realize that I need to not only be paying attention to the calories and the workouts, but also the nutrtional value of what I'm eating. Did I really already know that? Sure, but I still never really paid much attention.

I do now though thanks to your struggles. I have found that I actually DO care about putting even more healthy food into my body.

    You remain an inspiration! emoticon
