Lemming Syndrome

Thursday, August 16, 2012

Like most animals humans find solace in being part of a herd. It is safe, not really led, and the predators really only go after the weak or infirmed. Of course the down sides of being in a herd are part of the lemming effect. I can hear my mother saying, “If your friends jumped off a bridge, would you?” Well the truth to the answer is it depends; of course to irritate my parents I would say “Sure!”

So part of my humanity is embracing the uniqueness that is me. The herd may be safe; but, all that dusty trampling makes it difficult to see where you are going. And, even if you can see where you are going those behind you might just push you off the cliff just to get there first. Hum!

Diets are part of the lemming mentality. So many pushers out there, you are more than likely going to fall off a cliff sooner or later. Instead, I choose to change my lifestyle to be a better me. Yes lower intake and increased exercise seems awkward in the beginning. These changes will morph into my new normal soon enough. And in the end I will remain me.
