Cardio Streak Day 471
2.30 mile walk /jog
0430hrs 70F

In about a month, I will "officially" end my daily cardio streak at a total of 500 days. Yesterday someone asked about how many days I was going to rest. My plan, going forward, is to do a cardio workout about five days per week. I may take a whole week at first, but like so many things here, is open to review at the time depending on how I feel when it happens.

The streak was a great motivator for me. It got the fat guy (me) out of the house on days when I really didn't want to venture forth and helped keep going during the year it took to drop nearly 100 pounds. Yes, I would do it again (but I promise I will NEVER have to do it again) and yes, I heartily recommend it to anyone trying to lose serious weight.

I'm sure the health professionals will tell you to take a day off per week (it's Biblical, after all) but if you remember, each Sunday I would do a light walk (only) of twenty minutes, just to continue the streak. Sundays served as a defacto off-day.

For now, I'm writing this at my desk. I've already completed a couple of sets of the strength routine and somebody commented last night at a restaurant, "Aren't your shoulders getting bigger?" It made me feel good!

Therefore, when I finish writing this and hit the upload button, I'm going back to do more strength. WooHoo! In fact, I just went back in and did two more sets. Double WooHoo!!

Yesterday strength: Bench press ( 10 x 12 reps ), crunch ( 10 x 25 reps ), tricep dips ( 10 x 10 reps ), and forward stretches ( 10 x 75 second hold ).

The virtual team is doing well and is alive and well in Kansas.

My cardio total for today:
2.3 miles
30 minutes

Jog/Walk Across America:
Team distance to date: 1578
Current Location: Girard, Kansas
