BodPod - Aug. 13th and Weekend Running

Monday, August 13, 2012

I had my BMI calculated with the BodPod today. It was an interesting experience. Painless and you don't get wet:)

The result was disappointing for me, as I was hoping my bone density and muscles were heavier, but it was pretty close to the calculators you find on the internet. It was interesting to find out what my body burns just "living". I do think I am not feeding my body correctly, so that is a good part of my challenge right now. All I need to do now is figure out how to feed my body more consistently.

I have used the food tracker on Sparkpeople in the past and will do that for a while, so I get a measurement on what my body is lacking. I am going to focus a lot on the protein portion.

Also, my weekend run went GREAT!!! I ran just shy of 4 miles and I could have done more, but needed to get ready for church. I ran at 5.5 and no incline. Next weekend I think I'm going to try it at 6 mph. I know I'm mmaking headway because if you would have tried to have me do this 2 months ago, I wouldn't have been able to.

CHEETARA79, the BodPod was easy enough to do AND you don't have to get wet:) It somehow uses pressure and I'm assuming air volume to determine your composition, but it really wasn't all that far off the BMI calculators on the internet. I am going to redo it in a few months, just to see if the numbers change.

We did the BodPod through work. There is a business in town that has one. It's easy enough to do, but I'm not completely sold on the whole BMI thing. I think it's a gauge, but I don't think its realistic.

It will be interesting when I do it in October. I should be able to see a change in my composition. I can really tell that I am putting on muscle now. Due to this I am on a platue, since my muscle mass weighs more. People are telling me that the see a big difference, so I guess I have to focus on the measurement side of things more now.

    So glad you shared this.

I keep assuming that my bones are big and that's why I'm always on the high side of any BMI range.

The Internet calculators say I should be 173, but that seems so light (just 6 pounds more than when I graduated from high school, then again, I haven't grown since then either, except around the middle).

I'm going to add a 4 mile run this week. I did 1 and 2.25 last week and a little more the week before. Nursing injured feet, but I think it's time to cork off 2x that this week. Happy running!!

How did you get to use the Bod Pod? I've always wanted to do that.
