SP Live Blog - 5 Things I like about myself
Thursday, August 09, 2012
1 - I like that I am a glass half full person. Whatever happens I can find the upside to it - usually with a sense of humor. Things could always be worse so I am always grateful things go as well as they do.
2 - I like my green eyes. There really isn't much I like physically about myself right now, except that I am basically healthy and making the climb back from being really, really sick. My eyes never look lumpy in an outfit I want to wear. They're never too tight to be comfortable! Always my friend, always seeing the good in people and situations. They had a scare when I was sick and lost my vision but they didn't let me down - they came back strong as ever. And when they did the view of this beautiful world was sweeter than ever.
3 I like that my faith is unshakable. It is the thread that is woven throughout the fabric that is my life. I worked for 35 years as a Respiratory Therapist and witnessed some tragic, unthinkable things over those years. I worked primarily Trauma, ICU and Critical Care - both adults and infants. There are often things that you don't understand. What got me through all of that is the belief that God knows best. What looks like a horrible tragedy may in fact be God's way of sparing that person from something even worse down the road. By taking them early and suddenly, He spares them that end. I felt that way as well when I came home from working a night shift and found my husband dead. You have to trust God.
4 I like that I have some very close long time friends. I'm there for them and they are for me.
5 I like that I am committed to working with my church and Family Promise to make the lives of homeless families with children better.
That's about it for my list.
