365 Days to Goal: Fit and Fabulous by Fifty!!!

When I started Spark People in January 2011, my immediate Goal was to get my Blood Sugar out of the diabetic danger zone. The long term goal was to fulfill my new mantra “Fit and Fabulous by 50!”
The immediate goal was met and has been sustained over the last 20 months. My fasting labs are in healthy range. Cholesterol remains slightly elevated; it appears the dominant genes on both sides of my family are heavy on cholesterol, and diet alone does not appear to resolve cholesterol issues.
Now for the long term goal…I have taken off between 25 and 35 pounds and am on my way to a healthier existence. Yesterday I celebrated my 49th birthday. Interestingly enough I broke with tradition. For the past several years I have celebrated my birthday by going out to eat and indulging in a high fat/high calorie meal. This year a friend and I spent the day together tubing down the Rainbow River in Dunnellon, Fl. We had a great time. After tubing, we each had PB&J sandwich, some pretzels and water. Yesterday evening I had a steak and baked potato for dinner. Even though I did not track I am sure tat hat I was in calorie range for the day. I followed dinner by watching the Olympics and getting a GREAT night’s sleep. Time in the sun makes me ready to sleep. Well, truth be told, most anything makes me ready to sleep! But, I digress…
Today I am aware that I have 365 days to become fit and fabulous by 50! This is my year of total transformation!!! Thus the title of this blog…365 days to GOAL!!!
Today, I have renewed my commitment to tracking everything and making the changes I need to reach the goal. After breakfast and lunch I am in range for the three major nutrients, and within calorie range for the day. I have also consumed 12 glasses of water as of now.
The Plan for the next 365 days is:
STAY within calorie range a minimum of six days per week.
STRENGTH TRAIN 2-4 days a week.
CARDIO an average of six-hours per week.
RUN at least one 10K and two 5k races.
SREAD THE SPARK: participate in Florida Team Golf Game, Huddle with teams at least once a week, Connect with Spark Friends at least once a week.
MOTIVATION: Read MUFHH devotional daily and Daily Devotional Bible reading.
ACCOUNTABILITY: Blog at least once every five days.
