For our 49th Anniversary. We spent a surprising amazing day in Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor Maine.
It was the place I wanted to be. I was very lucky my walking partner from Augusta had to go to her cottage to talk to her renters before they went back to CA.
I walked with her Friday and she said she was going. I called her Saturday and she was there. I told her where we were staying and she wanted to meet and walk, it went from there. She had camped years ago in Bar Harbor Campground, the place we use and she wanted to walk all around it for old times sake. DH did not go with us his hip is playing up again so she and I walked and she told me all about living in Bar Harbor.
She was born elsewhere and moved there when her family moved to Bar Harbor. Her DH and she knew the Island intimately they were married there right in Bar Harbor and we saw the church and her families earlier homes. It was a really lovely day. Her mother and father were both teachers on the island, when it was a real island accessible only by Ferry from Lamoine
On Monday, our anniversary she took us for a lovely walk in the morning along a walking rail that lead to the ocean beaches.

There were so many butterflies and bees it was an amazing sight
The weather was perfect with great visibility unlike the day we arrived.
It overlooked a very exclusive 9 hole golf course.
In the afternoon she went to her cottage to chill and DH sat outside the RV and took a nap. I sat and Sparked of course.
DH and I knew where we wanted to eat. There is a village green in Bar Harbor, it is the center of the place and this restaurant had a flat roof years ago, now it is an upstairs patio and I had sat there before just watching people going by. Monday the town was really packed. There was not even one big cruise ship in there and still it was just wall to wall people. No Vacancy posted everywhere still.
There was no wait for us and our meals were good.
After supper we went across the green and a Brass band was setting up to perform. We all sat and enjoyed the concert. It was getting dark and my friend has a long dark driveway to go down so we all went home to bed.
SORRY more tomorrow. This is now 4 hours, some day I will do this in a snap but I ache every where. Pat in Maine.
