Crazy past month

Monday, August 06, 2012

A month since I blogged. A busy month, so I will try to be concise.

Work has been going downhill. I had applied for a job at the UC Davis vet pharmacy, but it was received late, after I submitted it in a second time because they had not received the first one. So that leaves me at my current employment until I can find something else. Unfortunately once retail and insurance positions are ruled out, there is not much left. I will hang tough. The staff pharmacist is leaving in 2 weeks, so we will have a new person coming in at that time. The one coworker that has been frustrating me, is getting worse.

On the 21st we headed out for our drive trip to Minnesota. We spent the first night at mom and dad's. We traveled about 8 hours on Sunday, getting just into the Idaho border. The second day was a long one, going until 10:45 pm. We drove at the edge of Yellowstone Park, so stopped quite often to take pictures. The third day we pushed through South Dakota into Minnesota, almost to the Twin Cities, since we were meeting some of my cousins there before heading to my dad's brother's place. That was pretty much the first time hubby met a bunch of my cousins at the same time. We headed out to my uncle's to have dinner at the fireman's appreciation dinner with him and his wife. That was very nice. The next day we moved on to one of my mom's sisters to stay 2 nights. Visited one of the aunts and uncles in the evening. Another cousin was spending the night with us in the house. The guise they were using was a 5-generation picture==== trying to keep the birthday party a secret. It worked, she was totally surprised. We left the party and headed to another aunt/uncle's place for dinner and visiting. We were there until 10:45pm. Their son asked about doing some diving in California with us. So I told him about the basic conditions of Monterey, and doing a weekday would be a better choice. We will keep in touch and figure out what dates work best for both of us. That will be fun

On the way home, in Wyoming, we got a text saying that my dad was in the ER with a pain level of 10 and the hernia would not go in. The doctors were insisting it had to go in so they could send dad home without repairing it. Mom was hoping to herself that it would not go back in. At one point dad said "just take me out back and shoot me" because the doctors were causing that much extra pain. When it would not go back, they decided to do the surgery. Once it slipped right back in, they were able to sew him up and be good to go. We stopped and saw mom and dad on the way home, since we were a day way. He was home and healing nicely by the time we got there. Now it is keeping him from lifting and carrying things for the next 2 months.

My anniversary present to my parents is an IPOD touch. My mom used mine while we were gone to MN, and loved one of the apps that I had on it. So I am going to try to get it set up and ready for use for them. I hope it is a nice surprise for them. I want to get it all set up before the weekend so I do not have to try to do it while at their house next weekend.

Anyways, bedtime for me... Hope all have a good week.
