All week I anticipated my Saturday morning walk so even though I knew it was going to be really humid today I figured I could be up early enough to walk before it, and the heat, set in. WRONG! Last evening I ended up getting interested in a great movie I had taped so didn't get to bed before 12:30ish. Alas, my late night caused me to over sleep this morning.
Total bummer, I awoke around 7:45 and the sun was already heating up the air. "No prob", I thought, "I'll get dressed and go for my walk anyway, after all, it can't be THAT bad yet outside." WRONG, AGAIN! It was so nice and comfortable in the house, since my grandson fixed my ac that I had no idea what it was really like beyond my doors. Let's just say that it was like walking into a sauna. YIKES!! At least that's how it felt to me. By now it was already 9 o'clock and the thermostat was already climbing and fast. I made it to the car and told myself it would be a stupid move on my part seeing that the humidity affects me so adversely.
"Okay, so you'll get in your exercise by working around the house", I told myself. Seeing that last week I helped my son & his girlfriend move into this INCREDIBLE Victorian mansion they are renting,

...and couldn't do any laundry, that would be one of my chores for today. I did three good sized loads, washed, hung out to dry, taken in, folded & put away. I also managed to go through some of my old jewelry for my eventual yard sale, and one of the kitchen cabinets. YAY!!!
I already had plans to go to a friend's house in New Hampshire this afternoon, but that fell through when I found traffic that was literally at a standstill and would be crawling for at least the next 27 miles. I got off the highway & headed back home.
This evening my friend Sandy joined me for dinner. The price of lobster is at an all-time low right now so I fixed surf and turf, lobster & pork chops. For veggies I cooked, Irish & sweet potatoes along with green bell peppers, onions, Brussels sprouts, summer squash & zucchini.
So, I may NOT have gotten in my walk, nor got to my friend's house, but all in all, it was still a good, healthy day.
