Reboot 5.0: Day #1

Friday, August 03, 2012

July has been a seriously slacker month on the fitness and nutrition front....and after nearly 3 years of maintenance, I've finally learned to just allow myself that each summer and get back on track when eating and drinking with abandon while paying no heed to fitness minutes starts to feel uncomfortable and not so much fun anymore....

Well, that time has come! As of this morning, I'm up 3.5 lbs from the middle of my maintenance range and 5 lbs from my preferred, I-feel-fantastic weight (I know I know...I'm a lucky girl....my body lets me get away with a LOT). Granted, a goodly bit of the weight gain is likely water retention, but it still looks and feels the same (tight pants, tummy bloat, puffy face), and I'm ready to kick it to the curb.

I'll be employing an approach that's worked for me in the past....rather than giving it the full-court press and jumping back in where I left of, I prefer to get back up to speed in several phases - kinda mimics the 'fast break' approach we all used when started SP. So, without further ado, here goes:

Phase 1: Five day reboot

* Drink 9-12 cups of water per day
* No alcohol
* No snacking
* 30-60 minutes of brisk walking each of the next 5 days
* Extra fitness minutes as a bonus

Weight Stats:

Day #1: 116.6
Day #2:
Day #3:
Day #4:
Day #5:

Phase 2: Reboot 5.1

TBD - assess status / fine tune fitness goals

Ultimately, I am aiming to start the 'Insanity' program at the beginning of September, so this will drive my fitness progress

And with that, we're off!

    Smart to ease back into it and build back up to where you were. I liked Insanity, but my knees not so much. It's a great workout though.

    I always weigh about 5 lbs more in the Summer than I do the rest of the year and I think it's from water retention since my activity and diet is on par all year around. I've learned to accept that I'll lose it in the Fall. emoticon

    Great idea to get back on track straight away before those pounds start to stick. 5lbs can so easily become 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, etc. Maintenance is really a challenge and you need a lot of self discipline to keep it up - I've every confidence in you though - you can do it!

    emoticon Mimi! emoticon I'm sure you already know what even a few days of "paying attention" can do to your mind and body. You'll be able to lick these extra lbs. in NO time!!
