I’m not giving up, I’m reassessing.

Thursday, August 02, 2012

I have been stuck at 138-139 for about a month now. I’ve been going to the gym 4-5 times a week, I’ve doing my best to eat well (although there have been non-tracked days, like the family reunion). At this point, I am happy with how I look, and I don’t want to feel frustrated because of a number. Is 135 pounds that much healthier than 139 pounds? I am at a healthy BMI, but when I get on the scale and it hasn’t moved, I have this moment where I feel like I’m still at 167. It stops me from seeing my awesome abs, my leaner, stronger arms, my defined quads, and my shrinking booty. It makes me feel like I’m failing, even though I’m the healthiest I’ve been in my whole life.

Here are some other numbers that make me much happier: I have 1 incredible man in my life.
I’m wearing size 6 jeans for the first time since my freshman year of college. I ran a 10:57 mile on Saturday. 2 sets of 12 reps on the Hoist machines at Gold’s Gym. 60 minutes of Zumba on Saturdays.

So I decided on Tuesday that I’m just going to maintain for a while. I’m going to keep going to the gym, but I’ve adjusted my calorie count for maintenance. I’m going to keep coming to SparkPeople daily, to interact with all my wonderful SparkFriends, to log my workouts, and to keep myself on track. Maybe I’ll find a new goal to work towards soon, like signing up for another 5K. But until then, I still need your support and I’m still here to support all of you.

First- congratulations on your success. I love that you added the other important numbers in your life. Your assessment seems spot on to me. BTW- love the wallpaper. Keep up the good work. I am glad that I stopped by.

There's a theory circulating--OK. It's only between me and TANNUBKY--that butterflies and scales are in collusion to demoralize us. I personally believe it is the first step in their plot for world domination. I'm glad you are not succumbing to their villainy and refuse to let a wretched, wretched piece of machinery get the better of you. You SHOULD be proud of where you are and how great you look. You've put in a lot of time and effort and energy. Too often we let the numbers dictate how we feel about ourselves; it's nice to see you changing the game. Well done.

    WOW! Your doing OUTSTANDING.
I only WISH I could see 130 ANYTHING. lol
Where I am I would be THRILLED to see 160 ANYTHING. lol

The numbers game CAN become a burden.
I was playing them and after a while I became frustrated and lost focus. My mind wandered and it even begin to doubt...

I actually gained recently and THAT was the catalyst to kick starting a turbo weight loss. Not that I am even impying that's what you should do.

I think if what you want is to see THE NUMBER...start trying different scenariois. If you haven't triedy meatless meals sporadically throughout the week...try that.
Still tracking to ensure what you use in place of meat is nutritionally sound. THAT WORKS. Remember when you reintroduce the meat do so slowly and in super small quantities...like stir fry so your weight doesn't pop back up.
