Why don't we try a goal blog?

Wednesday, August 01, 2012

I've never written one of these before: I've seen them everywhere, but I always get a bit nervous being public about my goals: they're the epitome of one of my greatest fears (well, not so much any more, but still). I hate admitting that I'm not good at things. Really hate it. So announcing to the world my goals -- aka things I need to get better at -- scares me a bit.

Ok... here goes.

Weekly August Goals:
emoticon Run during my lunch at least twice a week (2x/wk)
emoticon Do 20 push-ups at my desk every day at work (5x/wk)
emoticon Do at least one sun salutation every day at my desk at work (5x/wk)
emoticon Climb at least twice a week (2x/wk)
emoticon Dance at least once a week (1x/wk)

August Fitness-Improvement Goals:
emoticon Complete at least one new route at the gym
emoticon Increase my lunchtime run (30 min) distance to 2.5 miles

Self-Improvement August Goals:
emoticon Improve my climbing technique (will have to climb with more experienced climbers and accept criticism and help!)
emoticon Figure out the whole flirting thing enough to explain to the cute Vegetarian that I'm interested and that he and I should get to know each other better -- despite his non-carnivorous ways
emoticon Keep my soon to be clean apartment clean.

Alrighty. I can do this, I swear... Let's see how this works out...

    * Completed a surprising number of problems, including one that I considered impossible (for me).
    * Improved crimping technique! Learned the mechanics (if not the practice) of heel-hooking.
    * Did almost no running at lunch (partially due to laziness, partially due to muscle soreness)
    * Decided to forgo pushups daily due to doing a lot of arm-oriented exercises (softball/climbing)
    * Forgot to do sun salutations more than 1x/week
    * Unable to flirt with cute Veggie boy because he hasn't been back to the pub :(
