Yes, Pewterbunny, it IS time for a new blog entry!

Well, I've been training for a 5K - that is, to RUN a 5K, all the way through. I am not a runner. That's what I always thought. I can bike 100 miles in a day, but I couldn't run more than 2 minutes without getting completely winded. Well, my cousin and I walked/ran a 5K a few month ago, and I was hooked! I decided I really wanted to run one all the way through.

I've been training using an iPhone app Couch to 5K app, and started this in the middle of May, I think. Slow going, but last week I was up to 2.7 miles and a run time of 11.5 minutes per mile. Or so I thought.

I realized the technology I was using was inaccurate, and today I calculated the real distance. Blech, I was only running like 2 miles, and 15 minutes per mile. But I did actually run 2.5 miles today, and I still have a month to train up to the 5K mileage. I am pretty proud of myself, and I get to rethink this whole "I am not a runner" thing. So what if it's a lot of effort? So what if it's hard? It doesn't mean I am not a runner, just that I am pushing myself, and that's good.

The other thing I am super proud of is I have gotten my petsitting and bunny boarding business legit and am making strides in getting new clients and marketing strategies and such. I've been mucking around with this for years, it's nice to have an official business, something that I created, that is all mine.

You know I feel your pain about the challenges of running. I can Zumba for an hour and 45 min but running is tough!! Keep it up! I don't know why you're doing this in the summer, though. It is super hot down here. I sweat like crazy in the air conditioned gym. Hey- I just realized that I'm right behind you in fitness minutes. I just passed 21,250 minutes. At least we're staying active. emoticon

That's cool about your business up and running! And you too!! 15 mins/mile is respectable (especially for an admitted "non-runner"). Running 2 miles is nothing to sneeze at either! You are well on your way to meeting your goals!
